Product Manager - United Kingdom - Hybrid or Remote, with travel to clients, healthcare professionals and company offices as required.
We are seeking an experienced Product Manager to lead product strategy, brand development and commercial execution across the product lifecycle. This role will translate customer, market and competitor insights into effective marketing strategies, support successful product launches, optimise brand performance and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will combine strategic thinking, analytical capability and strong knowledge of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device or healthcare markets.
Product management and brand strategy – Key responsibilities (marketing, launches and lifecycle management)
Develop and implement product and brand strategies aligned with company objectives, customer needs, patient outcomes and commercial priorities.
Own product positioning, messaging, value propositions and customer engagement plans across relevant markets and channels.
Lead product planning across the lifecycle, from early development and pre-launch preparation through launch, growth, post-launch optimisation and lifecycle management.
Conduct market analysis, customer research, competitor assessments and commercial evaluations to identify opportunities, risks and growth priorities.
Develop annual brand plans, marketing strategies, tactical plans, budgets, forecasts and performance targets.
Translate customer, healthcare professional, patient and payer insights into differentiated product strategies and compelling marketing materials.
Partner with medical affairs, market access, sales, regulatory, quality, finance, supply chain and other cross-functional teams to deliver product objectives.
Support new product launches by coordinating launch readiness, market preparation, sales force effectiveness, training and promotional activities.
Develop and manage multichannel marketing campaigns, including digital, face-to-face, email, events, webinars and other customer engagement activities.
Prepare product communications, campaign materials, sales aids, presentations, training content and customer-facing resources in line with approved claims and compliance requirements.
Work with market access and medical colleagues to communicate product value, clinical evidence, health economic benefits and reimbursement considerations.
Monitor sales performance, market share, customer engagement, campaign effectiveness, competitor activity and changing market conditions.
Use market data, customer insights and commercial analytics to recommend strategic and tactical improvements.
Manage external agencies, creative partners, market research organisations and other suppliers to agreed budgets, timelines and quality standards.
Establish clear project plans, milestones, decision points and reporting processes for product and brand initiatives.
Present product strategies, performance updates, investment recommendations and business cases to senior stakeholders.
Ensure all product marketing and promotional activities comply with applicable legislation, industry codes, company policies and internal approval procedures.
Required skills and experience (product marketing and commercial strategy)
Proven experience in product management, brand management, product marketing, commercial strategy or a related pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device or healthcare function.
Demonstrable experience developing and executing product strategies, brand plans and integrated marketing campaigns.
Experience supporting or leading product launches, product relaunches and lifecycle management programmes.
Strong understanding of healthcare markets, customer segmentation, competitive analysis, market research and commercial planning.
Experience working with healthcare professionals, patients, payers, distributors, procurement organisations or other relevant healthcare stakeholders.
Ability to translate clinical, technical and market information into clear product positioning, customer messages and commercial recommendations.
Experience developing multichannel marketing strategies across digital and offline channels.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret market data, sales performance, customer insights and return on investment measures.
Experience managing budgets, forecasts, agency relationships and multiple projects within agreed timelines.
Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders without direct authority in a matrixed organisation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong project management, prioritisation and organisational skills, with a practical approach to solving problems and delivering results.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, with experience using CRM, marketing automation, market intelligence or business analytics systems.
Experience working with regulatory, medical, legal and compliance review processes is required; knowledge of the ABPI Code or other relevant industry codes is desirable.
Experience in a specific therapeutic area, healthcare category or international market is desirable.
Qualifications and professional attributes (healthcare product management and leadership)
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, Economics or a related discipline.
A postgraduate qualification in Marketing, Business Administration, Health Economics, Public Health or a related subject is desirable.
Customer-focused, commercially aware and able to balance patient needs, healthcare value, market opportunity and business performance.
Strong understanding of ethical, legal and compliance requirements relevant to healthcare marketing and product promotion.
